Today's activities:
The NEWEC is a relatively new organization
that has focused most of its early time and resources on ESD programs targeting school-to-work
and high school re-entry. These ongoing efforts have succeeded in
helping at-risk students complete high school, prepare for college and
train for careers.

Tomorrow's plans:
As resources grow,
Council services will include multiple priority areas including, but not
limited to:

Early childhood education
Educational technology
High school re-entry
Juvenile detention services
Prevention programs
School financial services |
School nursing
School reform/improvement
School-to-work
Special education
Staff professional development
Telecommunications

Long-term plans also
include development of a philanthropic program that will include:
scholarships for needy students and educational stipends for teachers to
continue their education and training.

Ways to help:
Gifts may be made to the Council in
a number of ways including volunteerism, one-time donations, multi-year
pledges, matching corporate gifts, endowments and bequests. Gifts
options include:
Cash
Gifts in-kind (personal property)
Securities
Designated United Way donations
Donor recognition:
Unless anonymity is requested, all donors
will be publicly recognized on this Web site and in Council
publications.
